These quests are optional, but will help you obtain costumes, titles, and sometimes special items.

Temple of Earth Dragon
There is a dragon inside the temple of earth that will give 10000 Gald every time you battle it. Also, if you equip Sheena's Money Bag weapon, you'll earn twice the amount! (There are also other items that increase your money.) The cool part is that if you exit, then re-enter, the dragon will appear again. So if you're low on Gald, come to the Temple of Earth. Notice that this glitch is fixed in the PS2 version.

Naming Dogs // Colette as onscreen character
When you see dogs in cities change the onscreen character to Colette and she will give the dog a name. After you name all the dogs in Tethe'alla and Sylvarant, Colette will earn a new title.

Sword Dancer // Meet at Ossa Trail
There will be a dull colored skeleton head at the end of the Ossa Trail inside a cave. Speak with the Sword Dancer and it'll ask you if you want to battle. If you battle with it and win, you'll get the Yata Mirror. The sword dancer is weak against light type attacks, such as Colette's Angel attacks. (It disappears after you visit Tower of Salvation from Hima on dragons.)

You must defeat the Sword Dancer at the Ossa Trail in order for it to appear at the next location, which is Gaoracchia Forest. The Sword Dancer is near a dead end path blocked by a sharp branch. I think you must have all eight members of your party present in order for it to be there. Each time you meet the Sword Dancer, it becomes more powerful. If you win, it'll give you the Yasakani Jewel. (It disappears after you defeat Luna and Aska.)

The third time will be in Iselia Forest, all eight members must be in the party. This is the most powerful monster in the game, so be prepared! If you win, it will give you the Kusanagi Blade which is Lloyd's strongest weapon. This is the final time you'll meet with the Sword Dancer.

Figurine Book // After finishing Asgard Human Ranch

Speak with the guy that was going to blow up the stone platform in Asgard. He is downstairs in his house in Asgard. After you get the Figurine Book, go to Dirk and he'll start making figurines for you. You can make figures of practically everything from the game if you have the correct pellets. Pellets are easy to obtain if you have Zelos. Use Zelos as your onscreen character and most of the time girls will give you different types of pellets. The four different types of pellets are:

Pellets, Fine Pellets, Super Pellets, and Rare Pellets

Sometimes enemies will drop them as well. I just give all my pellets to Dirk and he adds a bunch of figurines to my booklet!

Rebuilding Luin // After healing Pietro
After you rebuild Luin, there will be a weapon shop with very cool weapons for you to buy. Such as Sheena's Money Bag weapon which increases Gald earned in battle by two times!

Then go to Thoda Dock and speak with the priest, he'll give you Spiritua Ring. Then, travel to Hima and find Aifread near the graveyard. Give him Lyla's letter if you have it and he'll give you a letter. Go to Izoold and give it to Lyla and the group will find a way to get her the money she owes. Then speak with Max near the docks in Izoold and he'll give you a special hat.

Duel with Kuchinawa // After Kuchinawa takes Corrine's Bell
After he takes Corrine's Bell in Altamira, you'll have the opportunity to battle with him. Be sure to save before entering Mizuho. You'll speak with the chief and he'll ask you if you know anything about Kuchinawa, if you spill the beans, your relationship with Sheena will drop a significant amount. If you keep silent about Kuchinawa, your relationship with Sheena will rise.

You have to use Sheena to fight against him and I suggest you equip her with Holy Symbol and Black Onyx. Be sure Sheena is above level 60 to ensure a smooth victory. Also, her strongest weapon that can be purchased is Money Bag. You can not use items during the battle. If you get a chance, summon Efreet. If you win, Kuchinawa will give you Asura (one of Sheena's weapons) and Corrine's Bell. He will attempt to kill himself and you have the choice to stop him or let him do what he wants. If you loose, Kuchinawa will return Corrine's Bell and comment on how weak Sheena is, then disappear.

Go to Mizuho after these events and you'll see Orochi. Speak with Orochi and Tiga. Then, travel to the Temple of Lightning and go back to where you fought Volt. At Latheon Gorge, there is also a black treasure chest, unlock it with the key and get Diablos, which is Presea's weapon.

Near Triet, there will be a large enemy for you to defeat. You can obtain Soul Eater, which is Zelos' weapon from it. You must speak with the guy standing near the entrance and he'll tell you about the worm. Then go to a guy standing next to the dog near the oasis and he'll tell you the myth about the worm. If you don't speak with them, the worm will not appear. The worms appears North West of Triet left of the mountain as a skit point.

At Hakonesia Peak, Koton will give you Heart of Chaos which is Raine's weapon after you collect the first 8 and speak with Abyssion in Flanoir.

Follow him to the Temple of Darkness and this guy will turn into a monster at the seal where you fought the Summon Spirit of Darkness. After you beat the guy, all the cursed weapons you found will now be useable. They will gain power each time you use them to defeat enemies.

He'll tell you go to the Tethe'alla Bridge. Zelos will find out the Princess they are trading is a fake and it is actually Kate. At the bridge, you'll have to battle. It's really easy so don't worry. Then, go to the exit of Gaoracchia Forest near the Save Point. You'll finally get rid of the Pope for good. The castle will provide you with gifts.

At Zelos' House, you'll find out that your clothes haven't arrived, so head to the castle where two attendants will give you Nobleman's clothes. Lloyd will earn a new title. Afterwards, you can choose four characters to get formal attire. The first character is determined by "Who's Waiting?" for you, choose any character. Then talk to the three people you want to get the formal attire.

Behind a Mask // After speaking with Seles
Go to Meltokio and in front of Zelos' house his group of girls will confront him. You guys will then think of a plan to stop the girls from following Zelos. He'll wear a mask and earn a new title. But the girls don't seem to like it.

Wonder Chef Event // After defeating Yggdrasill
In Meltokio to the left side of the castle, you'll notice the Wonder Chef being cornered by a look alike chef. The look alike will challenge you to cook Beef Stew. You'll then learn the recipe. After the contest if over, Regal will get a new title and a chef costume.

Meltokio Colosseum // Must have Vinheim Key in possession
You can earn the character's second strongest weapons and very good titles by winning advanced class. Some tips are that don't rush in, blocking is very important as well. Cook after each battle, make sure you have enough ingredients. Watch the enemy, it has an attack pattern. I've beaten it with most of the characters already several times, it takes lots of practice to get used to each character.

Lloyd // Swords of Swords // Valkyrie Saber
Sheena // Rose of Battle // Divine Judgment
Presea // Deadly Flower // Bahamut's Tear
Zelos // Grand Champion // Excalibur
Colette // Super Girl // Angel's Halo
Genis // Ultimate Kid // Final Player
Raine // Gladiator Queen // Crystal Rod
Regal // King of the Colosseum // Kaiser Greaves

Winning either beginner or intermediate will get you herbs or a gel set. If you play on advanced mode, Seles will come to challenge you at the end of the final round. If you defeat Seles, you get the strongest weapon for Zelos.

The team battle mode is also fun. After you finish the final battle of this mode, there will be an extra battle against three characters from other Tales games. If you win, you'll get Lloyd's strongest armor and Genis' strongest cloak, plus a Symbol. Some tips are to defeat the guy first, Then for for the two girls. It would REALLY help if Lloyd used his Devil's Arm weapon. (Abyssion must be defeated in order for Devil's Arm to be powerful.)

Genis & Mithos // After Mithos leaves Sybak Library
Go back to Altessa's House, upon entering, Raine will collapse. Mithos suggests that he and Genis will go look for the flower to cure the illness. Lloyd has to "keep tabs on them" to see what they are up to. At Mt. Fooji, Lloyd helps out Genis and Mithos. Genis earns the title "Friend".

Meteor Storm // After getting Vinheim Key
Go to Heimdall and to the bench area. You'll see an old man and an elf. After arguing for a bit, the old man will teach Genis how to use Meteor Storm, a very strong magic attack.

What is Noishe? // After getting Vinheim Key
Go to Heimdall and near the entrance there will be two boys arguing that they saw Aeshir. You'll then find out what Noishe really is. No Lloyd, Noishe is not a dog.

Presea's Strongest Weapon // After getting Vinheim Key
Go to Ozette and speak with a man after Presea is level 80 or above. After you guys talk, walk out of Ozette, then walk back into Ozette and speak with him again, he'll give Presea the Gaia Cleaver, her strongest weapon.

Regal's Strongest Weapon // After getting Vinheim Key
After Regal is level 80 or above, go to the prison area in Meltokio castle, the jail cell on the left side will have one of Regal's old cell mates. After hearing out his story, go to the hot springs. After speaking with Regal's teacher, walk out of the Hot Springs. Then walk back in and speak with Regal's teacher again, Regal will obtain his strongest weapon, the Dynast.

Book of the Underworld // After getting Vinheim Key
Go to Sybak Library and you'll notice a weird looking book in the back shelf. The guy standing next to it will tell you what it is. Then make your way to Heimdall and speak with an elf who knows about the book. Then, return to Sybak, be sure to save before going into the book.

Upon entering the book, there will be a bunch of new monsters and restrictions. You have to use your Sorcerer's Ring to navigate and light braziers. You'll notice you have Soul Fire. If that reaches 0, you die. To increase Soul Fire, you have to defeat enemies or light braziers.

On the blue stages, you'll have to use the ring to create paths. On the red stages, you'll have to defeat every single enemy in order to make it to the next one. There are 15 stages in all.

There will be two major bosses to defeat, it'll be easier for you if you unlocked the true potential of the Devil's Arms before this stage. All the enemies are difficult without being level 80 or above.

After getting to stage 15, you must have at least 1000 Soul Fire to burn the book. (I'm not sure of the number, but I had 1200 Soul Fire after defeating the final boss.)
